Widower Piotr Doma\u0144ski and his sons Franciszek and Antoni ran a farm in the village of Rz\u0105\u017cew near Zbuczyn. They were known for their industriousness and kindness. Antoni served on the board of the local Voluntary Fire Brigade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the German began liquidating the local ghettos towards the end of August 1942, the Doma\u0144skis hid a number of Jews in one their barns. At night they brought them food, and in return the fugitives \u2013 taking all the necessary precautions \u2013 helped them at the farm. When the Germans took interest in the case, Piotr tried to persuade his sons to leave the house and find a safe haven, but they preferred to stay together with their seventy-six-year-old father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At noon on 8 April 1943, the Germans stormed into the Doma\u0144skis\u2019 household. When the men refused to admit that they were helping Jews, the drunken gendarmes subjected them to brutal torture, and next transported them to a nearby forest and shot them.
