In July 1942, three Jews from Warsaw asked for shelter at the house of the Postek family in Stoczek near W\u0119gr\u00f3w. These were later joined by escapees from the nearby ghetto, and then, at the beginning of 1943, by refugees from Treblinka. The gamekeeper, Stanis\u0142aw, and his wife Julianna had eight children of their own, but they organized two underground hideouts and brought food for the hiding people. A total of seventeen Jews stayed on their farm.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The gendarmes arrived on 5 September 1943 before noon. The Germans searched the premises, found the Jews and shot them on site. Then they brutally beat Julianna, who died the following day. Stanis\u0142aw died in the Auschwitz concentration camp six months later.
