A little help center

In July 1942, three Jews from Warsaw asked for shelter at the house of the Postek family in Stoczek near Węgrów. These were later joined by escapees from the nearby ghetto, and then, at the beginning of 1943, by refugees from Treblinka. The gamekeeper, Stanisław, and his wife Julianna had eight children of their own, but they organized two underground hideouts and brought food for the hiding people. A total of seventeen Jews stayed on their farm.

The gendarmes arrived on 5 September 1943 before noon. The Germans searched the premises, found the Jews and shot them on site. Then they brutally beat Julianna, who died the following day. Stanisław died in the Auschwitz concentration camp six months later. The Germans released the brothers Henryk and Wacław from the Pawiak prison in Warsaw, but they were soon arrested once more and murdered in unknown circumstances.
